The project goal to the development and construction of a gas sensor system of new generation for detection of gases and gas mixtures. The gas sensor system can be used for a wide array of applications, ranging from safety equipment (explosion, leakage, fire, contamination and poisoning protection) up to emissions and air quality monitoring, quality assurance, process instrumentation and measurement technology. For example, gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxide (NOx), ammoniac (NH3),sulfurous gases (H2S, SO2) and hydrocarbons (CxHy) as well as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be detected.
The gas sensor system proposed by us is based on the registration and analysis of changes in photoluminescence (PL) spectra of sensitive nanomaterials due to contact with the gases. Using the registration of PL spectra will increase the sensitivity, selectivity and response speed than trivial sensors based on the electrical conductivity.,
