Subway platforms become extremely hot during heatwaves, especially those without ventilation or air conditioning. We have collected temperature and humidity data from both street and platform levels. Our technology will use these existing and future datasets to statistically predict and forecast the heat index at the platform level using outdoor temperature forecast.
The MTA currently does not have any temperature monitoring systems on its platforms to assess the impacts on infrastructure and riders.
