KEYWORDS: Chemical Warfare Agents, Biosensor. Our invention allows for the detection of the nerve agent Vx via a deisgned protein switch. Our protein sequence undergoes a conformational change in the presence of very low concentrations (< 200 nM) of Vx nerve agent. This conformational change does not occur in the presence of other, similar, organophosphate chemicals or in the presence of the common degradation products of Vx. This conformational change can in turn be detected through a variety of biochemical methods (SPR, fluorescence, MST, ITC).
