IDEA #7W979R 20A0041 Repurposing Odors as Small Molecule inhibitors

Method. -A method of antagonizing viral infections of the respiratory canal. -A method of antagonizing viral particles from being internalized from specific cells by binding to any protein or moiety on the cell surface. -A method of antagonizing SARs-CoV-2 from infecting mouse or human Ace2 expressing cells. - A method of antagonizing SARs-CoV-2 from infecting mouse or human Ace2 expressing sustentacular cells expressing cells. - A method of antagonizing SARs-CoV-2 from infecting human Ace2 expressing olfactory sensory neurons. - A method of antagonizing SARs-CoV-2 from infecting mouse or human OR-expressing olfactory sensory neurons. - A method of antagonizing SARs-CoV-2 from infecting OR52H1and OR52N4 expressing olfactory sensory neurons. Here we will generate mice expressing human Ace2 protein for the purpose of identifying odors or small molecules that will inhibit the binding of the SARs-Cov-2 Spike S1 protein. Here we will also generate mice expressing the human odorant receptor proteins OR52H1 and OR52N2 for the purpose of identifying odors or small molecules that will inhibit the binding of the SARs-Cov-2 S1 Spike S1 protein.
