IDEA #7IJYT9 High economy technology of production of titanium rolling using asymmetric powder rolling process.

In present traditional technology of the production of titanium rolling consists from the following main operations: melting of titanium sponge in ingots, forging of slabs from the ingots, hot and cold rolling of slabs with intermediate annealing. Titanium and its alloys are hardly deformable materials. So it is necessary to perform large number of passes and intermediate anneals during cold rolling. Hot rolling is also connected with high energy and labor costs. It should be noted that for sheet samples of titanium and its alloys anisotropy of mechanical properties had been obtained. Usually such anisotropy is eliminated by transverse rolling. samples During last years economy and competitive method of production of rolling sheets had been developed. This method consists from metal and alloy rolling with the following sintering and final densification rolling. As a rule powder materials are rolled in symmetric deformation zone. However production of the articles by the method of powder rolling in symmetric deformation zone is connected with essential difficulties due to impossibility of creation of back and front tape tension. Such difficulties are especially manifested during the rolling of strips (tapes) whose density exceeds 0,80-0,85 of the relative density of the cast material. Nonuniform distribution of contact normal strength in deformation zone causes essential increasing of tension strength and it may results to rolling damage at output rollers zone. Due to abovementioned last time more attention had been paid to asymmetric rolling of powder materials. Asymmetric rolling is performed by creation of inconsistent circumferential speeds of the work rolls. In practice asymmetric rolling is realized by creation of various angle velocities for the rollers of the same diameters or by using of the rollers with various diameters with the same angle velocities. Asymmetric rolling of powder materials allows to activate shear deformation of powder material in essential manner. At the same time influence of longitudinal tensile stress which causes rolling damage is essentially decreased. Highly economy technology of production of titanium rolling using method of asymmetric rolling had been developed in IPMS NASU. Asymmetric rolling of titanium powders gives the possibility to produce high density thin sheet samples for its following sintering in vacuum and cold rolling till necessary sizes due to intensive shearing deformation. Proposed technology of production of titanium rolling allows essentially decrease the number of operations and rolling cost price. According to the preliminary data rolling cost price using proposed technology is 3-4 orders less in comparison with traditional ones.
