SYSTEM OOFF CORROSION MONITORING ooff PIPELINES ((SCMP))

In a corrosion laboratory of the E.O. Paton Electric Welding
Institute the system of corrosion monitoring of pipelines
(SCMP) was designed. Due to SCMP it is possible to measure
of instantaneous corrosion rate of the pipeline metal from an
external and internal surface of the pipeline, values of electro(cid:2)
chemical potentials (polarization potential, corrosion poten(cid:2)
tial, summary potential with ohmic component, transversal
and longitudinal potential gradients through the length of the
pipeline).
A measuring block (MB) with GPS system, interrupters of a
cathodic protection current ICPC(cid:2)30, spool of a wire (1000 m)
with the counter of metric area, copper(cid:2)sulphate reference
electrodes, corrosion rate sensors, device for embedding of
the corrosion rate sensors enters to the structure of SCMP.
Innovative Aspects and Main Advantages
First the system which allows simultaneously determine time ,
corrosive of a soil and transported product, damaged areas of
a protective coating, residual corrosion rate of pipeline metal
in a protective coating defect, defending degree of the
pipeline on extension and in time, the presence of wandering
earth currents.
Analogues of an offered system are the products developed by
German corporation "Weilekes elektronik ", the American cor(cid:2)
poration "Magna Corporation", Russian SAS "ASIIGAS", the
Dutch corporation "Scan". However apparatus mentioned
above do not allow carrying out measurement of instanta(cid:2)
neous corrosion rate and residual corrosion rate of the
pipeline metal in defects of an insulation cover.

Oil(cid:2)gas complex manufactures, ammonia manufactures,
municipal services of water(cid:2)supply and gas(cid:2)supply.
Stage ooff development
SCMP was tested, it is accessible for demonstrating (cid:2) the field
tests were carried out.
There is an experimental sample of SCMP.
