IDEA #44YYDL Surface Plasmon Resonance Spectrometer Plasmon-5 For Biosensing

APPLIED RESEARCH • SENSORSSURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE SPECTROMETER PLASMON(cid:2)(cid:2)55 FOR BIOSENSING Description Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is a unique optical surface sensing technique that is responsive to refractive index changes that occur within the vicinity of a sensor surface. Thus, SPR can be used to monitor any physical phenomenon which alters the refractive index at the surface and has grown into a versatile technique used in variety of applications. Of special interest is its potential for biosensing techniques Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages Biosensor applications of SPR spectrometer rely upon high selectivity of biomolecular interactions. In typical biosensor, the biosystem sample is placed onto derivatized (usually with alkyl thiols) gold film using appropriate immobilization tech(cid:2) niques (covalent, His or affinity tag, antibodies). Selective cou(cid:2) pling of the analyte species present in the probe to the immo(cid:2) bilized biosystem affects the effective refractive index in the vicinity of the biosensor surface resulting in a resonance curve shift. An advantage of SPR method in comparison with other biochemical methods is absence of molecular labeling. Depend on modification device has one or two optical chan(cid:2) nels. Second channel can be used as measuring or reference. Modification of the instrument destined for electrochemical applications features additional ADC input and software means for recording of voltamperograms simultaneously with the optical signal Areas ooff Application Immunoassay and biosensing techniques (veterinary, foods industry, environmental monitoring), monitoring of biochemi(cid:2) cal kinetics, refractive index measurements and thin film char(cid:2) acterization, in situ electrochemical studies, bulk liquid meas(cid:2) urements, educational activities.
