IDEA #97X3P2 New production methods for electric power at underground gasification (burning) of coal layers

New production methods for electric power at underground gasification (burning) of coal layers aggregates were provided. Some of them were tested in laboratories. Several parts of technology were patented. Photos/Pictures: General scheme for power production through new aspect and main Description: This method includes utilization of thermal power in the area of coal layer burning and its transportation using liquid heat-carrier to hydro-steam turbines for power generation. Additionally to generator gas from underground coal gasification (traditional technology) one can produce power which price for typical coal block size 300х100х1 m is US$1,3-1,5. In these conditions expenses for equipping for heat utilization and power generation do not exceed 20- 25% of this sum. Underground gasification of large coal deposit can provide production of several hundreds of such blocks using the new method, that can greatly (1,2–1,3 times) increase general economical efficiency of underground coal gasification stations. Innovative advantages: The main disadvantage of modern technologies of underground coal gasification is 30-50% heat losses from layer burning onto inefficient baking of near rocks. Attempts to use heat energy of underground gas generator using water vapour didn’t meet any efficient technological methods. We are the first to propose thermal power utilization system using liquid heat carrier, which circulates in pipe header (coloumn) in the burning area of stratum and is capable losses. Continuous temperature keeping for liquid heat carrier within 150-2500С gives an opportunity to use it for power generation on hydro-steam turbines, which efficiency is close to steam turbine of thermal stations. Due to speed control easiness of liquid heat carrier in pipe header it is provided the opportunity of operational control for heat-exchange processes and further generation of cheap power. The method can efficiently be used even in the conditions of thin coal layers and off-grade deposits of coal and lignite. Areas of Application: Power engineering, mining engineering, especially underground gasification of coal layers, alterative power sources. Stage of Development: Technical feasibility analysis was made that proved the operation ability of new method.
