MILIMETER WAVE DIELECTROMETER FOR DETERMINATION OOFF ELECTRICAL
CHARACTERISTICS OOFF LIQUIDS
Description
The dielectrometer bases on a high Q(cid:2)factor dielectric res(cid:2)
onator (DR). The resonator as semi disk is included in a return
circuit of the mm wave Gunn diode that provides high(cid:2)sensitiv(cid:2)
ity autodyne mode of realization of measurements. The
researched sample of a liquid is located in a capillary located
inside of the DR. Volume necessary for researches of a liquid
is not more than 0.02 ml. The frequency and signal amplitude
at oscillator output are information for determination of the
characteristics (complex permittivity) of researched liquids.
Innovative aspect and main advantages
In contrast of existing analogues the offered device allows car(cid:2)
rying out measurements of the complex permittivity of liquids
having high losses of energy with high resolution in a mm
range of wavelength, thus taking place in small volumes.
Dielectrometer does not require an external source of a signal
that determines its compactness and small weight. It has high
adaptability to manufacture and low cost price.

1. Environmental monitoring of water resources, including
quality control (pollution) of drinking water.
2. A petroleum(cid:2)refining industry.
3. Medicine and a pharmaceutical industry.
4. The food(cid:2)processing industry.
Stage ooff Development
Now the laboratory specimen of devices for measurement of
liquids electrical properties is created. Its tests are carried out
on liquids with the large and small distinction in values of elec(cid:2)
tric characteristics (water, acetone, alcohol and their solutions
